To fail to Take-a-Stand is explicitly and/or implicitly to Challenge-their-Authority. All-Issues are treated dichotomously. We are to support them as they have Authoritatively-Taken-a-Stand. We dare Not-Be-Submissive; and must Take-a-Stand --- even if we do not have the facts, have not studied the issue from more than one point of view, and do not understand the nature of the conflicts between complementary values, ideals, principals, and people. We must be loyal supporters of those who have given meaning to our lives; else we are likely to be: rejected, excommunicated, shunned, banished, excluded, etc. Beware! Thinking is suspect. Doubt is suspect. Lack of faith is suspect. Conformity is honored and rewarded. Take note and behave wisely and prudently! - - - - - - - - - - - The challenge is to survive behaving wisely and prudently --- within communities which are dominated by domineering-people who are loyal supporters of The-Fallen- Powers-That-Be as described by Walter-Wink in his powerful book "The Powers That Be". We cannot fight The-Powers-That-Be on their terms and have much chance of surviving. To survive with integrity we must resist The-Powers-That-Be in ways which are wide, prudent, non-coercive, reconciling, integrative, healthy, honored, neighborly, and reverent. That is not easy.
