Domineering people are unlikely to form and maintain with integrity any non-exclusive personal relationships; e.g., relationships within which participants are free to be involved in complementary other close friendships and intimate relationships. Domineering people are likely to feel that they can own their partner in an exclusive way; to feel that for the partner to be involved in any other close friendship or other intimate relationship --- is a violation of the rights of the domineering person to be in control; dominant. The above indicate that domineering people are likely to create relationships characterized by: alienation, estrangement, rebellion, anger, resentment, dishonesty, etc. They are likely to blame, shame and guilt any partner who becomes involved in any relationship which is complementary to their "Dominant-Relationship". They may even feel that they have the right to be the dominant partner in more than one Exclusive-relationship; and not see the lack of integrity in their taking that stand. The above describes many relationships which do not entail any formal marriage; as well as many relationships which do entail a formal marriage. People contemplating marriage will do well to look for signs of incompatibility in expectations before marriage --- because many domineering people spring the trap of domination only after the formalities of a marriage are in effect. Be aware and beware of tripping such a trap! (c) 2005 by Paul A.
