Growth is an creative-integrative process. Integrative processes lead to new beings, persons and creative-relationships. Death is a disintegrative/destructive process. Each disintegrative/destructive process leads ultimately to a death of some kind. Most human deaths occur over an extended period of time during which a human (and humane relationships) disintegrate or are destroyed. As a person gradually loses personal and communal integrity --- the person gradually dies. When a person loses all personal and communal integrities --- the person is essentially dead. The living-dead have lost all integrity except for some residual physiological integrity. Within the living-dead some integrative metabolic processes continue, but few other integrative processes continue. Disintegrative/destructive processes generate more chaos/entropy than integrative/creative processes; generating little if any new local well-ordered beings or relationships. Alienation and estrangement pertain to the disintegration and/or destruction of channels/patterns of reliable communication and humane relationships --- so that there is decreasing coordination, collaboration, cooperation, and integration. Alienation and estrangement are thus parts of deadly processes. Evil-relationships are characterized by alienation and estrangement; so they are also characterized by the disintegration and/or the destruction of many channels/patterns of reliable communication. Deadly processes often entail evil-relationships. To deal wisely and prudently with the above inter- related elements of human: birth, growth, integration, disintegration, destruction and death --- we need to be openly and honestly aware of them, name them and describe them AND their inter-connections/relationships. Then we need to commit ourselves to facilitating and promoting both personal and communal integrities; and behave in ways which are congruent with such commitments --- demonstrate- ing gracious integrity as cooperative members of our communities.
