Being in right relationships with others; i.e., engaged regularly in open and honest- dialogue with those whom we admire because they are authentic and healthy human beings as they/we demonstrate both our personal and communal integrities. 2. Being "accepted" by those whom we "respect" because of what they have achieved, own, possess, dominate and/or control. 3. Being subservient to and in the service of --- people who are more powerful, wealthy and/or more dominant than we are. 4. Being subservient to and in the service of a program or set of ideals/values which guide our lives as individuals and as neighbors working together in support of our cause, group, army, etc. 5. Being in the service of some "Domination System", "Powers That Be", "Collusion", "Addicts/Codependents" or "Idolatrous System". 6. Being the victim of some physiological or mental dis ease/disease. Whichever of the above patterns of words come to our minds most commonly --- those words guide how we respond to the dysfunctional aspects of our lives and communities. Some of the above patterns of words are tragically misleading. Some of them are likely to lead us toward liberation and so toward our contributing helpfully to the healing of ourselves, each other, and our communities. Who is to say with authentic authority with is which? Is what actually happens because of how we are led --- more important than what we pretend are the right answers to these questions? If so, what should we focus our attention upon? (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
