Where there are no respected patterns of leadership cycles --- there are patterns of personal and communal disintegrations. Both unlimited control/domination and unlimited submission/obedience are likely to lead to the development of tragic patterns of personal & communal disintegrations. It is important to work together in cooperative ways which assure mutuality and respect built upon appropriate forms of reverence, and ceremonial expressions of reverence. We can get past our inclinations to say NO --- only as we work together in cooperative ways to mitigate our various kinds of fears, anxieties and doubts; so we can say YES together. That will not happen so long as there are many of us trying to play the roles of kings/queens --- presumably appointed by God; and/or there are many of us wishing to be the favored servants of kings/queens --- presumably appointed by God to rule over us. We all need to transcend the assumptions, attitudes and patterns of belief --- which go with the notion that most power can be helpfully concentrated into the hands of very few assertive/powerful people --- without there being healthy cycles in who plays what leadership roles. As time passes and there are inevitable changes within and around us. Our relationships and our environments call upon us to take turns in how we play formal and informal leadership roles in our: friendships, marriages, families, work-places, organizations, cities, states and nations --- within Space Ship Earth.
