We can do no one any good by expecting or demanding conformity to our ways of feeling, believing, thinking, deciding or acting. We may not like this fact; but trying to ignore it, or pretend that it is not true --- will do no good, and is likely to do great harm by leading us into irreverent relationships. What is true, or may appear to be true for one of us, may not be true, or may not appear to be true, for another one of us. In any case, pretense among us will not be helpful--- because pretense will undermine/subvert reverence among us. It is as destructive/disintegrative to pretend to be reverent; as it is to forget or fail to be reverent with each other. So long as we pretend, forget or fail to be reverent with each other; we cannot enjoy personal-communal integrity and security with each other. It is a tragic mistake to honor, respect, support or revere the BEHAVIOR of any leader who fails to revere ALL of God's children as God's children. Such a leader pretends to be God --- while being a mortal who is deluded by misleading visions of: omniscience, omnipotence, certainty, infallibility and eternal life. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
