Their stories focus communal attention --- for good or ill. Their stories often divert attention away from more integrative foci which can facilitate cooperation and constructive work. Often our stories focus upon long-cycles-of-violence between ARCHETYPES of "good-people" and "evil-ones" who never engage together-with-each-other in: open-and-honest-dialogue, friendly-cooperation, careful-listening, acts-of-kindness, friendly-relationships, acts-of-trust, non-violent-conflict-resolution, GETTING-TO-YES, GETTING-PAST-NO, GETTING-TOGETHER as peacemakers; or in USA-Western-Movies, Kiddy-TV, War-Stories, Babylonian-Myths, Greek-Myths, Roman-Myths, murder-mysteries, gossip, news-stories, soap-operas, etc. Our-stories lead us to focus our lives and then our-lives lead us to focus upon our-stories --- in endless-cycles-of-violence which is often regarded as having redemptive effects --- when virtually always the effects of violence are dominated by: alienation, estrangement, misunderstanding, ignorance, distrust, dis-ease, anger, resentment, rage, revenge, domination, controls, addictions, collusions, dishonesty, codependent-supporters, arrogance, destruction, self-righteousness, etc. Violence is not the means to salvation, security or peace.
