Such people often forget and/or ignore the fact that power corrupts --- and absolute power corrupts absolutely in the absence of checks and balances. People who are allowed to arrogate unto themselves the power to control intimate personal relationships as suggested above --- without checks and balances --- are granted absolute power and are corrupted absolutely in the absence of checks and balances. In their fearful efforts to control all private relationships which might cause them: embarrassment, inconvenience, discomfort, envy, jealously, confusion, doubt, and/or loss of control --- they sow the seeds of personal and communal disintegration. They dare not let people get together in unsupervised ways which might lead to unregulated forms of knowledge. They are motivated and guided by their preoccupations with issues of control --- and they are corrupted to the extent that they are permitted and encouraged to seek to be in control without restraint, checks or balance. Communities within which such people are overtly or tacitly in charge---are communities which are decaying, disintegrating, fragmenting, and falling-apart. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
