On the boundaries of such communities are people who have to work especially hard to maintain the vision and fantasy. It is especially hard for them --- because they are closest to the evidence that beyond them is a world in which artificial visions and fantasies are recognized as such; rather than being maintained by people who are playing collusive games of mutual self-deception. It is people on the boundaries of collusive communities who are sorely tested and tried. Those at the core of the collusive communities insulate themselves from the realities of life --- by keeping away from the boundaries where truths regarding artificiality are most clearly and forcefully present. Usually the people who are maintaining artificial visions and realities do not have within their communities all the necessary scarce resources with which to maintain what they cherish. They depend on the importation of scarce resources (water, food, fresh air, energy, fuels, minerals, manufactured goods, etc.) in ways which they do not acknowledge openly and honestly. Often they resort to coercion, violence, and domineering procedures to take the essential scarce resources away from the surrounding territories --- where there are people who do not have the power, knowledge, will and tools --- to prevent the removal of resources from their territories. Thus stealing continues. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
