If our behavior is driven solely by our uninformed expectations of what will happen---we are likely to lose our personal and communal integrity as we are guided by the disintegrative patterns of behavior of people who lack personal and communal integrity. It is essential that our behavior be informed, not only by whatever expectations we may have of consequences ---but also by integrative ideals, values and principles which will help us to work to maintain our personal and communal integrity in the face of some likely disintegrative personal responses to healthy patterns of behavior. If our behavior is not informed by integrative ideals, values and principles---we are likely to behave in ways which will contribute to personal and communal disintegration---when we are confronted with the behavior patterns of people who lack personal and communal integrity; and we adjust our behaviors in the darkness of our uninformed expectations which have grown in the darkness of disintegrative behavior patterns of people who lack personal and communal integrity. We need to be well aware of how disintegrative it is for us to respond to disintegrative behavior patterns in ways which echo disintegrative behavior patterns---for then we are controlled by disintegrative people and communities; and contribute ourselves to the further disintegration of our selves and our communities. It is rarely a mistake to focus prudently upon the likely objective consequences of an objective action. Informed theories regarding objective consequences of objective personal actions are rarely misleading in tragic ways. On the other hand, it is often risky to focus much upon expected reflexive and/or subjective consequences of reflexive and/or subjective behaviors---for such a focus is likely to lead us to forget how important it is for us to keep in mind integrative ideals, values and principles. We may become exclusively focused upon our expectations of how disintegrative people will behave---and so be controlled by them in tragic ways. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
