Visions usually entail a picture, image, or view of how reality might be different for people of integrity in communities of integrity. There are, however, essential components which are not suggested by words such as "picture", "image" and "view." Such essential components of an integrative vision may be pointed to by words such as "attitude", "assumption", "belief", "hope", "approach", "desire", "affection", "intimacy", "vulnerability", "safety", "trust", "gift", "security"; and other similar words which are suggestive of healthy communities where responses to mistakes and failures promote healing and integration; rather than attack, hurt and disintegration. Too often our visions entail pictures, images and views of how things and people should be and act when they are perfected. Such visions invite manipulative people among us to try to control things and people among us---in the manner of collusive addicts and their supportive codependents. Many people accept the invitations which are implicit in such disintegrative visions. We need to promote integrative visions which do not issue such invitations to manipulators of people and things. They are eager to accept such invitations and to try to take over and control the course of physical and human events. They often see themselves as God's agents and God's judges. They view themselves as free of the complex reflexive motivations and guidance of true love, power and justice- --all of which are present in the presence of the Holy Spirit within us and within our most sacred and holy relationships.
