It would be difficult to maintain civilization in their absence. At the same time people who are addicted to and fixated upon laws, rules, regulations, prohibitions, prescriptions, moral codes and their like as means to control all aspects of people's lives---they undermine the credibility of appropriate laws and moral guidelines. When we are dominated by people who are addicted to legal/moral controls it is difficult to be open, honest, intimate, loving, creative or joyful. We need to learn how to respect appropriate laws and moral guidelines---without respecting addictive people who are fixated upon legal systems, moral codes and judgmentalism as tools of control. Such addictive people are often fearful of truly creative people---whom they see as not being properly under the control of any system of good laws, moral codes or threats of judgment. Such fearful people cannot respect honest people of integrity who are not preoccupied with issues of control; for such honest people of integrity are threats to the collusive games of mutual self deception which are played by the fearful people of the law. Strangely, many fearful people of the law invoke the name of one of the most non-conformist of the religious prophets of western history---a man was put to death on a cross for refusing to conform to the demands of addictive people of his culture who were fixated upon legal systems, moral codes and judgmentalism as tools of control. What modern fearful people of the law preach---is often contradictory to the birth, life, teachings, death and resurrection of the person under whose name they preach conformity to the law. That contradiction is an essential part of the collusive game of mutual self deception which they invite others join---doing so in the name of a supreme non-conformist who taught and lived the Truth, the Way and the Life of Love and Humility. Their behavior is a paradox in need of a healing miracle of gracious truth. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
