Silence may be occasioned by repression and threats of repression within communities which are involved in addictions, and codependent support of addictions and so are involved in collusive games of mutual self deception. Silence may also be occasioned by no one ever having created an adequate vocabulary and set of concepts in terms of which to articulate perceptions of the experiences which never get talked or written about. It is not always easy to distinguish the two kinds of occasions and in some instances it may be impossible to discern whether or not the lack of language is itself due to repression and/or threats of the repression of possible articulations regarding personal experiences. There are many experiences which if they were talked about would undermine the apparent integrity of collusive games of mutual self deception. The participants in such collusive games are bound by loyalty to each other to repress even the development of a language adequate to facilitate the articulation of the experiences which if articulated would undermine the dominate games of mutual self deception. It is thus important to work quietly upon the development of languages which will facilitate the articulation of experiences which have so far remained private and unarticulated. Through clear articulations we may learn more than we would otherwise learn from our experiences---whether they be positive or negative in character. It is unreasonable for any people to be opposed to the promotion of learning more than is traditionally learned from both positive and negative experiences. The irrationality of such opposition needs to be clearly articulated to undermine its power. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
