If we cannot be honest with ourselves, we cannot be honest with each other; and we lack both personal and communal integrity. Anything which blocks reflexive emotional honesty regarding our feelings, emotions, perceptions, fears, regrets, anxieties, etc. undermines the foundations of both personal and communal integrity. Such blockage of honest reflexive expression of what is most uniquely our own, feeds the roots of collusive games of mutual self deception. Anything which leads to the blockage of reflexive honesty will ultimately lead to destructive reactions to the repressions generated by such blockage. Attempts to inhibit reflexive honesty (e.g.; trying always to appear to be objective) will ultimately lead to expressions (of the repressed personal realities) which are more destructive than reflexive honesty would have been. Pretending to always be objective is dishonest, and destructive of personal and communal integrity. It is impossible to be reflexively honest with others without first being reflexively honest with one's own self through knowing and owning one's own feelings and emotions. To pretend otherwise is dishonest. Communal integrity is impossible without reflexive self honesty, because communal integrity is based upon open and honest communications which are impossible without reflexive honesty. Honesty about one's own emotional life is the foundation for communal integrity. No ideals, values or traditions which block honesty about one's own emotional life are worthy of respect. Many emotions of members of addictive societies are associated with the rebellion of frustrated persons against addictive blockages of reflexive knowledge--- addictive emotional backlash. Blocked perceptions are not shared, and cannot be combined in creative new ways. Only perceptions which are openly and honestly shared are likely to be combined in creative new ways to deal with emerging new dilemmas and problems. Whatever blocks open and honest reflexive sharing thereby blocks creativity and renewal, and so is evil in the sense that evil pertains to the blockage of open and honest communication.
